Beyond Jobs

As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to work with men 22-35 as they become leaders in their workplace, community and families. Job & Leadership Training (JLT) has a variety of opportunities for volunteers. Revive Thrift Shop also offers volunteer opportunities.

This role entails helping students learn to become leaders in their workplaces, families and communities. You will meet with your student once a week (any day) for eight weeks to help them set and achieve goals focused on employment, education, family, community improvement and personal development.

meal prep

On Monday and Thursday evenings we provide dinner for the students. The meals offer a time for community building as students and volunteers develop relationships over a nice meal. We need volunteers willing to either cook a meal, purchase food from a local restaurant or to provide money for the cost of a meal.

Revive Thrift Shop shatters your idea of “thrift” by offering a curated mix of new and used goods, including

Merchandise donated from NY and LA design houses. All profits support Mission: St. Louis. It also serves as a training center for both retail skills and furniture restoration. As you might guess, there is a lot of work that goes

Into ensuring that this social enterprise runs smoothly, and we couldn’t do it without our wonderful volunteers! We are currently looking for volunteer to sort donations, run the front register and staff the front of the store. For more information, email contact@revivethrift.org or visit their website at revivethrift.org.

Tax Prep

Partnering with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) we provide free tax return preparation for qualified community members. Volunteers will attend two training days to learn how to prepare tax returns and then later meet with individuals to file their taxes.

Tax Prep is finished for the 2016 year, but will continue next tax season in 2017.

Tax Prep is held from 9:30am – 1:00pm at the Mission: St. Louis offices, located at 4366 Manchester Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63110

Please contact Britney at britney.dawkins@missionstl.org with any questions.

Beyond Charity

Senior Services:

Volunteers provide rides to church, medical appointments or other appointments for seniors who can no longer drive or are otherwise limited. Drive once a month or more! You must have a reliable car and insurance; supplemental insurance is provided. Help an elderly person get to the doctor or to church!

School Support:

We partner with Adams Elementary School to provide in-school support to youth in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood of St. Louis.

As a Literacy Buddy you will visit Adams Elementary School once a week on Wednesdays and help students improve their literacy skills and reinforce reading concepts learned in school. We ask that you commit to once a week (Wednesdays) for an entire semester.

By volunteering with Adopt-a-Class you will assist teachers at Adams Elementary School with filling needs in the classroom. This could include reading with a student or a small group, helping with class work or running errands for the teachers so they can continue teaching.
